Biography

I have just finished my MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies, having done my primary research on youth identity in Amman, and worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan. I first visited Jordan in 2020, and studied Arabic at Ali Baba International Centre, and Qasid. Both programmes helped advance my spoken and classical Arabic, leaving me to feel confident enough to write my undergraduate dissertation on the Ammani Dialect. Currently, I am director of the UK-MENA Network, a group which aims to connect university students and young professionals in the UK to the MENA region through events and trips to the region, and in August 2024, we had the greatest pleasure of visiting Jordan! If you have any questions about what it is like to study Arabic language in Jordan, or have any questions about Jordan and what it is like to live there in general, I would be delighted to answer!
