Islamic Studies

Islamic Studies and Sharia disciplines at Jordanian universities focus on the provisions and theories of the Islamic Sharia to equip scholars, teachers, preachers, judges, and religious investigators with the correct and moderate teachings of Islam.

Jordan has become a preferred destination for students seeking to pursue degrees in Islamic Studies, due to the moderacy the Kingdom of Jordan has been keen on preserving.

Jordan has given Islamic Studies special attention, making Sharia disciplines available at most universities, and has established specialized institutes, such as the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought. The World Islamic Science and Education University operates under the aforementioned institute, seeking to provide the world with competent scholars who follow the correct and moderate path and respect Islamic values while teaching others.

The World Islamic University publishes the Jordanian Journal of Islamic Studies, an international peer-reviewed scientific journal funded by the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund at Jordan’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The journal is classified by ARCIF, a database providing citations of peer-reviewed academic journals in the Arab world, as a first-class reference.

Based on King Abdullah bin Al Hussain’s belief in the necessity of preparing wise Dawah leaders who advocate tolerance and fight extremism, he established the King Abdullah II Institute for the Preparation and Rehabilitation of Imams and Preachers in Amman.
