Arabic language

The Arabic language is the official language in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan according to Article Two of the Jordanian Constitution.

In order to consider the Arabic language the official language of the state, the Jordanian Arabic Language Academy was established in the Kingdom, whose objectives were specified in Article 4 of its law to preserve the integrity of the Arabic language and to work to keep pace with the requirements of modern arts, sciences, and arts, and to advance it to keep pace with the requirements of society and revive the Arab and Islamic heritage.

Out of the Hashemite’s family interest in the Arabic language, His Royal Highness Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah launched the “daad” initiative, in partnership with the Arabic Language Academy, which aims to create a unique model for young people who believe in their language, seeking to highlight their identity, and also aims to include the Arabic language within the fourth Industrial revolution, which is based on the digital revolution and the fields that fall under it, such as; artificial intelligence, robotics, and others.

The Language Center at the University of Jordan is one of the most important centers for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers in the Middle East. It is affiliated with the Jordanian University in Amman. The center was established by a royal decree in the year 1979 to provide services to all those interested in learning the Arabic language.

The center offers an intensive training program to teach Arabic to non-native speakers. It also plays a great cultural role as it helps in introducing foreign students to Jordanian society, its culture, heritage, and antiquities. It organizes periodic trips to the most famous archaeological sites in Jordan such as Petra, Jerash, and Madaba, and many famous sites such as the Dead Sea, Ma'in baths, and others.

There are also language centers in most Jordanian universities, which focus on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. Centers for teaching Arabic to native and non-native speakers are also spread throughout the Kingdom.
